Small-Business Backs Mike Ranzenhofer for State Senate TONAWANDA AND BATAVIA, NY, October 22, 2008
—The National Federation of Independent Business, New York’s leading small business advocacy group, today announced its endorsement of Mike Ranzenhofer for election in the 61st Senate District.
### NFIB is the nation’s leading small business association, with offices in Washington, D.C. and all 50 state capitals. Founded in 1943 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, NFIB gives small and independent business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business. NFIB’s powerful network of grassroots activists send their views directly to state and federal lawmakers through our unique member-only ballot, thus playing a critical role in supporting America’s free enterprise system. NFIB’s mission is to promote and protect the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses. More information about NFIB is available online at www.NFIB.com/newsroom.
"Mike Ranzenhofer will be a strong supporter of the small business agenda in the Senate and an important ally in NFIB’s fight to lower the cost of doing business in New York," said Mike Elmendorf, state director for NFIB/New York. "His support for broad-based tax relief, a real property tax cap and limits on the growth of state spending and debt will help turn New York into a better place to start and run a business. We look forward to working with him to lessen the burdens Albany places on small business, the engine that drives the economy of our state."
Mike Ranzenhofer said, "I greatly appreciate the support of NFIB and small businesses through Western New York because they are the key to creating new jobs and strengthening our economy. As our Senator, I will work to help reduce the tax burden on small businesses, give them access to new capital to expand and grow and make them more successful."
Joe Lombardo, owner of Modern Graphics and Design of Tonawanda said, "We need someone in Albany that understands the problems small businesses have been facing for too long. High taxes, insurance and fuel costs, and unaffordable health insurance for our families and employees have got to be addresses in order for us to stay in business. Mike Ranzenhofer understands this and will fight for us in Albany so we can grow our businesses and provide needed jobs in New York."
Chuck Gugel, owner of Clor’s Meat Market of Batavia said, "We need leaders like Mike Ranzenhofer in the Legislature. His plan to cut taxes and reduce the cost of government is exactly what our economy requires. He has a proven record as a fierce defender of the taxpayers and will stand up to the big-spending special interests in Albany who would impose even higher costs on our small businesses."
Today’s endorsement comes from the New York SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, NFIB’s political action committee. Elmendorf noted the endorsement decision was based on responses to a questionnaire on relevant small business issues that was sent to both campaigns.
NFIB’s endorsement is a key one for the Ranzenhofer campaign. Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls.
